I still need new carpet laid and my wall hangings all put back up, but here is my new living room so far. I like it, I am just not sure about the fireplace being darker brown. Maybe it's not the right shade?? Any opinions?

It looks great! As for the fireplace color, I've learned that I have NO IDEA- and although I think it's great, to get a pro's opinion ask Cambria and if she doesn't know, she'll ask Rachelle! Good job.
Meghan it's looking great! You've got me motivated to finish my living room now.
Wow! I can't believe the transformation! It really looks beautiful!! I love the bookshelf now! It looks like it is supposed to be there! I love the wall color and I do like the fireplace darker... it really stands out. It is beautiful! good job!
Wow...I love it! Very sheik. I have been wanting to stop by and visit you.
Looks great! And you still let your boys in there!!! I like the fireplace, break the brown up by putting a distressed black mantle on it? Just an idea. I love the cabinets black!
I love it! And I think the fireplace looks awesome. i really like the wall color... the room looks really elegant! Good choices.
Mom
Love it! I would keep the fireplace color looks good.
Okay, I just left a comment, but don't seem to see it. So if you get double comments from me... oh well! Your living room looks great! I'm so glad you painted the bookcase black! (Wow, my idea was great!). If you can, as in, if Jared will let you, haha, you should still get bead board and face the the drawers, side, etc. with it, and then have two cupoard drawers put on it. But either way, it still looks 100% better. I think the fireplace is perfect and is now noticeable. I agree with Jeni about putting a black mantle on it. I love all your colors! When I saw your window seat, I wanted to hang out there. I also got an instant idea for window treatments on your window seat, and if I were there, I'd show you what I'm thinking. You'll have to wait until we come down in April though. haha. Anyway, it looks awesome and you've coordinated everything super good! Now I want to change something in my house... hmmm. :-)
Oh, oh, oh... another comment from me. I was just looking at the pic of your bookcase again and wanted to tell you that I like the way you broke-up the encyclopedias. They were all on the top shelf, in a row, right? I like how you dispersed the weight and look of them around into "decorative" sections. GREAT idea. Lay one or two of them flat and put one of those "green balls" on them. But maybe you already did that but I didn't notice.
Thanks everyone for your ideas and comments! I already have a black mantel i just need to put it up, so i am glad i was thinking right with that! Jamie, i can't wait to know your window seat idea! Also i didn't think of putting a "green ball" on one, i will do that good idea. I will definitely do the bead board but in a couple months after jared has recovered! ha ha..
I am making my blog private. If you want to read it, just email me at angelhep@hotmail.com and ill send you an invite

It looks great Meg! Not that you haven't heard that from everyone else on here, but i just wanted to put my 2 cents in to tell you that i love it. Especially the book case, what a difference it made! When did you get that couch? It looks so nice!
WOW! That's quite the transformation! LOVE IT! It's so weird to me that now YOUR kids are growing up in the house I grew up in... funny! Love love love the makeover!
Well, having been the former owner of the house, I absolutely LOVE what you did with "our" living room! It is GORGEOUS!
Sounds like the luck has changed in Dublan! (Yay Michelle!) Time to get pregnant... you'll have a GIRL this time!!! Tell Deanna to get on it too! ;)
